About the Author


Steve Williams was born on March 30th, 1956 (Good Friday), in Covington, Kentucky to parents Harold B. and Dorothy A. Williams. Williams lettered 3 years in Baseball, 2 years in Basketball and 1 year in Football at Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger, Kentucky before attending the University of Kentucky in the fall of 1974. Williams walked-on to the Kentucky basketball team and was a member of Kentucky's 1978 national championship team led by coach Joe B Hall and Jack "Goose" Givens. Williams earned his B. A. in Business Education from UK in 1979, and later earned his M. A. in Education @ Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky in 1989. Williams graduated from UK in 1979, and began teaching and coaching in Versailles, Kentucky at both Woodford County High School and Middle School. Williams was voted Coach of the Decade for the 1980's in January of 1990. In 1995, Williams became the head coach Osceola High School in Kissimmee, FL. The program returned to national prominence in 1998-99 when the Kowboys were ranked in the Top 50 in nation. He also served as the Head Boys and Head Girls Volleyball Coach during his tenure. Williams earned multiple coach of the year awards during his tenure at Osceola. Williams left OHS in 2000, and has since coached part-time at Oviedo High School and Lake Brantley High School while spending more time coaching the youth teams his children play on. Williams has helped found organizations in Volleyball, Basketball and Baseball, most notably the Blue Steel Wildcats Junior Basketball program which was started in 2006 and continues today. Since 1980, Williams has placed or aided in the placement of 20 Varsity Baseball players, 25+ Varsity Boys Basketball players, 70+ Varsity Girls Volleyball players and 1 Varsity Boys Volleyball player on the collegiate level through active promotion of the athletes through high school programs, AAU programs and instructional camps, while encouraging each student's excellent performance in the classroom. He also started the student/athlete skill instruction groups Game Points Athletic Instruction, Mako Volleyball Instruction, Southern Volleyball Instruction, Southern Sports Instruction. Steve and his wife, Lynda, currently live in Longwood, Florida, with their sons Derek, Jason, and Lucas. Williams older children, Sasha, Chris and Nick were all varsity high school players and Chris starred in college at Kentucky Wesleyan College.
