The legendary interior design firm Parish-Hadley Associates set the standard for American style in the finest homes for more than three decades, from the 1960s through the 1990s. Throughout its colorful history, Parish-Hadley was commissioned by the most prestigious families in the country, from the Kennedys at the White House to the Astors, Rockefellers, and Gettys. Yet the fertile partnership between Parish and Hadley also greatly influenced the taste, style, creative process, and practices of the designers who worked for them. In this volume, 30 of the most renowned designers relate in detail their personal experiences working at the firm, accompanied by images they have chosen of their own work, past and present, illustrating how their designs were shaped by Parish-Hadley.  

About the Author


A former partner of the legendary design firm Parish-Hadley, award-winning designer Brian J. McCarthy graduated from New York City's Pratt Institute and has worked on projects around the world. In 2005, McCarthy designed the private quarters and refurbished the State Rooms in Winfield House, the official residence of the Ambassador to the Court of St. James. Additionally, he has designed an array of stunning private residences, many for clients so high profile they wish to remain anonymous. McCarthy is a member of Elle Decor's A-List, and his work has been featured in many publications, including House Beautiful, Elle Decor,New York Magazine (100 Best), the New York Times, and Veranda, as well as in several books.

Bunny Williams is a world-renowned interior designer and industry leader. Williams is a member of the AD Hall of Fame, Elle Decor A-List, Interior Design magazine Hall of Fame and received House Beautiful’s Giants of Design award. Williams designs and produces handcrafted furniture and accessories under Bunny Williams Home and has licensed collections with Ballard Designs, Century Furniture, Curry & Company, and Dash & Albert.
