Virginia Brooks (1886-1929) was a social crusader who spent the 1910s fighting for the rights of women with various political reformation groups. Her passion for helping others led to her work with women in prostitution, endeavouring to free them and find them safe and stable jobs. She was known as the 'Joan of Arc' of West Hammond for her efforts against crime and corruption.
